Hello guys, how are you doing?
It's me again, Vinicius from Brazil (black sedan).
I have 2 questions, it's kind of simple ones;
1- I usually starts my Plus and take it for a ride only 1 time per week, short distances, 10-20km, and sometimes, when it takes more than a week for me to start the engine, when i do, it blows out some huge amount of white smoke. Is that bad???
2- What are the precautions thet we must have when letting the car parked for long periods??
I hope you can help me on that.
Thanks []''s
Vinicius

Smoke
Vinicius,
An attempt to answer your questions, actually from Amsterdam.
1. White smoke can be a sign of serious trouble: leaking head gasket. The coolant comes into the combustion chamber and produces white smoke. But your engine should run irratic as well. Maybe not the case...Check your coolant at a specialist, he can detect burnt fuel in your coolant with a probe. Or your fuel is getting bad after 6 months or so.
2. If you park your car for a long period you should drive it for 20 km or so. Maybe you should drive your car 250 km, because you have already water in your oil (as a result from short trips). Have your battery charged 1/2 hr per day (time clock switch in the mains).
Take care!
René.
